An innovative chemical recycling process transforms old, discarded nylon into a premium ingredient – matching the exact qualities of conventional nylon – but without the footprint of its oil-derived counterpart.

A Conscious Solution for the Skies and Beyond

What sets ECONYL® regenerated nylon apart is its ability to undergo infinite recycling without any degradation in quality. This means that at the end of its life, as a single ingredient, used nylon can be regenerated into new nylon, preserving its original properties. The resilience and more conscious profile of ECONYL® regenerated nylon allow for a range of applications, from aircraft interiors to transit seating, fulfilling the industry’s operational specifications while embracing more responsible objectives.

The “Born R2R” Project by Aquafil Takes Flight

Choosing ECONYL® regenerated nylon helps meet rigorous aviation and transportation standards while benefiting from a responsible end-of-life solution. The “Born R2R” project (Born Regenerated to be Regenerable) by Aquafil involves manufacturers in the design phase to create carpets that can be easily disassembled and recycled. At the end of its life, the nylon component of the carpets can be brought back to the Aquafil facility in Ljubljana to be fully regenerated into new material, avoiding landfills altogether. Like-minded partnerships are the engine behind this initiative as we explore new ways to pursue conscious choices in transport design. Find out more on how the Born R2R works.
