Through our recycling process we upcycle waste. By working at a molecular level, we don’t just reuse a material; we restore nylon waste back to its original structure. The result? We produce ECONYL® regenerated nylon without extracting newly sourced fossil raw materials for its polyamide component, preventing tons of waste from ending up in landfills.

Our regenerated nylon shares the exact same technical properties and appereance as its fossil-based counterpart. This means that we can regenerate the nylon over and over again as a single material, without any loss in performance or quality.

Producing ECONYL® regenerated nylon from waste generates fewer CO₂ emissions compared to standard virgin nylon production derived from petroleum. We back this up with data: our claims are based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study, conducted in accordance with ISO 14040/44 standards and certified by independent third parties.

We estimate that for every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® caprolactam produced, we save the equivalent of approximately 70,000 barrels of crude oil compared to traditional fossil-based production. This figure results from two rigorous internal calculations. The first is based on conversion along the benzene–cyclohexanone–caprolactam chain using transformation yields; the second starts from the carbon content in crude oil, benchmarked against the corresponding carbon in caprolactam. Both approaches lead to the same figure.

We call ECONYL® regenerated nylon a “circular ingredient” because it comes from waste and possesses the exact same qualities and durability as conventional nylon, meaning it can be regenerated repeatedly without losing performance.

By providing a circular starting material, we challenge brands and designers to rethink how they build their products, ensuring that components can be easily disassembled and sent to the right recycling streams.
