AI-Driven Design, Material Innovation, and the Power of Textiles: ECONYL® nylon at Patricia Urquiola’s among-all for Heimtextil 2026
AI-Driven Design, Material Innovation, and the Power of Textiles: ECONYL® nylon at Patricia Urquiola’s among-all for Heimtextil 2026 Patricia Urquiola’s among-all installation at Heimtextil 2026 showcasing textile-based material innovation

At Heimtextil 2026 in Frankfurt, Patricia Urquiola introduces among-all, a new chapter in her ongoing exploration of textile thinking. As a continuation of this investigation, the installation examines how textiles can shape space, gestures, and interaction—revealing their potential as active, intelligent design elements.

Presented in Hall 3.0, the installation merges artificial intelligence, craftsmanship, material research, and spatial experimentation—offering visitors an immersive encounter with the interior design of tomorrow. Within this dynamic environment, ECONYL® regenerated nylon plays a significant role, showing how advanced materials can shape architecture, movement, and interaction.

A Design Ecosystem Where Humans, Textiles, and Technology Converge

among-all places visitors at the centre of the experience. AI responds to movement in real time, transforming gestures into digital morphologies via a monumental LED wall—an investigation into how textiles and technology can create new forms of expression.

This dialogue also takes physical shape through a 3D-printed portal by Caracol, produced using ECONYL® regenerated nylon chips. The sculptural entrance introduces a material-driven narrative where texture, structure, and innovation become active design elements.

Across the installation, Urquiola explores contrasting material behaviors: soft, fluid surfaces alternate with rigid, structural components. Inflated figures, hybrid sculptures, and suspended grids highlight the versatility of textiles and their ability to orchestrate space, rhythm, and interaction.

These elements showcase the many possibilities of textiles, from soft and fluid surfaces to more structural forms, echoing the diverse material expressions explored throughout the installation.
among-all also builds on the design narrative introduced at Heimtextil 2025 with among-us, where Patricia Urquiola first explored the potential of ECONYL® regenerated nylon within an immersive, textile-driven environment.

ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon at the Heart of among-all

As part of the evolution from last year’s among-us, Patricia Urquiola reinterprets several design elements in among-all. One of them is the ‘Giano’ upholstered sculpture, which returns with a completely new textile cover crafted using ECONYL® yarns by CC-Tapis. This transformation reflects Urquiola’s interest in circular material flows and in how existing designs can be renewed through innovative fibres.

In the broader installation, digital concepts introduced in the previous edition take on physical form, shaping new spatial experiences. ECONYL® regenerated nylon will also appear along the corridors of Heimtextil, where tactile surfaces and rich textures echo the themes explored in among-all.

A Major Stage for ECONYL® Bespoke — Debuting with Partners

Heimtextil 2026 also represents a significant showcase for ECONYL® Bespoke, a curated collection of regenerated nylon yarns designed for rug and carpet makers seeking luxury, performance, and a more responsible material approach.

Each yarn in the collection offers a distinctive texture and finish—evoking the warmth of wool, the sheen of silk, or the organic character of jute—bringing depth and dimension to any design. Elegant, durable, and easy to maintain, ECONYL® Bespoke is ideally suited for contract, hospitality, and residential spaces where luxury and long-lasting performance are essential.

At Heimtextil 2026, several Indian manufacturers will present rug and carpet samples created with yarns from the ECONYL® Bespoke collection, including Reseta, Relana, and Reterra—highlighting its versatility, performance, and expressive potential.

Exploring 3D Design and Material Expression in among-all

among-all becomes a living environment shaped by movement, AI, craftsmanship, 3D design, and material research. The presence of ECONYL® regenerated nylon reinforces the potential of advanced materials to support new forms of creative expression.

As you move through the aisles of Heimtextil, you may notice carpets bearing a discreet yet meaningful detail: the R2R® (Regenerated to be Regenerable) label. It marks an Aquafil project built around the “Regenerated to be Regenerable” philosophy — carpets made with regenerated nylon and thoughtfully designed so that, at the end of their life, every component can be taken apart and regenerated once again. A quiet signal of how circular thinking is already shaping the materials and surfaces we experience every day.
