Design Dialogue at Clerkenwell

Circular pathways to certification: unlocking LEED, BREEAM, WELL and GENSLER with ECONYL® and R2R®

Wednesday 20th May, from 2 PM to 3 PM.
The Charterhouse Chapel Charterhouse Square, London EC1M 6AN.

An exclusive talk featuring with Cristina Stefani BCF Marketing of Circularity Projects, Aquafil Group.

During the event, Cristina examined the role of ECONYL® nylon and the R2R® program within the framework of green building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, and WELL. Through a circular economy approach, it analyzed the design strategies and technical criteria necessary to align with ESG standards and Gensler protocols. The goal was to demonstrate how choosing circular materials can accelerate building sustainability and unlock measurable value in modern real estate.

This session offered a deep dive into circularity at Clerkenwell Design Week.

Everything you need to know about ECONYL® Brand and Aquafil

Since 1965, the Aquafil Group has been a pioneer of the circular economy and a reference point for quality and product innovation in Italy and worldwide.
The Group produces synthetic fibres and polymers. Its flagship product is ECONYL® regenerated nylon, developed through a closed-loop model.

Aquafil operates across 3 main product areas: carpet yarn, textile yarn, and engineering plastic solutions.

ECONYL® is a premium nylon made entirely from pre- and post-consumer nylon waste, such as old carpets, fishing nets from aquaculture and ghost nets, plastic components and fabric scraps.

By using regenerated nylon, designers have the possibility to develop products without using new resources. Nearly 2,000 brands have already chosen ECONYL® regenerated nylon to create solutions designed to last.

The R2R® program is designed for recycling carpets and rugs made with ECONYL® yarn and other materials compatible with the ECONYL® regeneration system.
